data base and administration

What does database means?

Often abbreviated DB. A collection of information organized in such a way that a computer program can quickly select desired pieces of data. You can think of a database as an electronic filing system.

Traditional databases are organized by fields, records, and files. A field is a single piece of information; a record is one complete set of fields; and a file is a collection of records. For example, a telephone book is analogous to a file. It contains a list of records, each of which consists of three fields: name, address, and telephone number.

An alternative concept in database design is known as Hypertext. In a Hypertext database, any object, whether it be a piece of text, a picture, or a film, can be linked to any other object. Hypertext databases are particularly useful for organizing large amounts of disparate information, but they are not designed for numerical analysis.

To access information from a database, you need a database management system (DBMS). This is a collection of programs that enables you to enter, organize, and select data in a database.

Yahoo Mail can be an example, first the preparation will be the questions or fields that prepared for us, the input is our answers, and the data processing is tthe process and the storage is you stored in the database, and the out put will be is you already made your account.

the cycle of data processing

What is data processing? Refers to a class of programs that organize and manipulate data, usually large amounts of numeric data. Accounting programs are the prototypical examples of data processing applications. In contrast, word processors, which manipulate text rather than numbers, are not usually referred to as data processing applications. Same as Information Technology (IT), refers to all computing functions within an enterprise.

Data processing works when there is the data processing and the preaparation, data input, the processing and storage and the output, has functions.

understanding files and filenames

What are the definition of file, filenames and extension?

A file is a collection of data or information that has a name, called the filename. Almost all information stored in a computer must be in a file. There are many different types of files: data files, text files , program files, directory files, and so on. Different types of files store different types of information. For example, program files store programs, whereas text files store.

A filename is the name of a file. All files have names. Different operating systems impose different restrictions on filenames. Most operating systems, for example, prohibit the use of certain characters in a filename and impose a limit on the length of a filename. In addition, many systems, including DOS and UNIX, allow a filename extension that consists of one or more characters following the proper filename. The filename extension usually indicates what type of file it is.

An extension An extra feature added to a standard programming language or system

It is important because you will not know where you put your files, because it doesn't have a name.

difference between data and information

Data refers to a collection of organized information, usually the results of experience, observation or experiment, or a set of premises. This may consist of numbers, words, or images, particularly as measurements or observations of a set of variables, and Information is Processed, stored, or transmitted data.

An example of a list of names, and their number, and their address, that is a data and information.

Database Admin

Database Administration is important because it stores information, and it can prevent from many username from another username that is the same. It is important because the other accounts will not be exchange like in yahoo mail.
